Heathers is a late 80’s American dark comedy about a pair of murderous (sociopathic) teens seeking revenge on teenage bullies. It would be considered very risque (and likely banned) if it were released today; given the general theme of gun violence and murder in high school. So it comes as little surprise that the television remake from 2018 had a rough trot getting air time. The release was delayed due to a school shooting, and the content had to be heavily edited for American audiences before being dropped by the network. That’s a real shame, but the single series is fantastic and worth a binge watch. The clever spin is that the popular Heathers clique are the types who would generally BE bullied, so the series is refreshingly queer (and body) positive, but they are still horrible people (that is after all the crux of the story).
